Is it worth, making p5 go fast.

I just bought a 03' p5 and have installed an intake and exhaust system. I know I'm dealing with a 2.0 engine but what else can I do to this beautiful car to make it go fast. Or is it just not worth the effort or dollars.

I think it's up to you if it's worth it or not. If you want real fast, get the BEGI turbo kit for under $3k and you'll be pretty darn quick. Sadly, if you want FAST fast, you bought the wrong car

This car wasnt meant to be fast .

Investing in a turbo might help a little . But worth it on another car more then this one.

what are you talking about? our p5's are HELLA quick in corners, ive lost every truck, alot of integra's, civics, corollas and sentras in corners. NONE of them can keep up with me. if you want muscle car performance (straight line BS) then... yes you bought the wrong car.. but i would much rather have real performance than hick infested performance

What color did you get? Do you know what the differences between the 2003 and 2002 are?

Wrong car

No I'm confident I bought the right car, Its just that when I go to the import drag races I see these imports with extra power and I wonder if this great car can be pushed to go alot faster. Right now I love the looks and it has enough power. My p5 is silver with black interior. I've tinted the windows 15% and installed an AEM cold intake and a ractive exhaust. Its looks awsome and all the local race guys want to race me. I just want to cruise and enjoy.

My next options are are a sound system and wheels.

The main diff between 02 and 03 is the interior. They use alumimum in the interior that gives it a sportier look. Out side of that I couldn't see any diff.

Do you have any pics? What do you mean they use aluminum? Aluminum look, or actual aluminum in the interior?

the P5 is a great handling car, and with just a few mods, intake and exhaust, not many 4 bangers can hang with this car in the high end and 120 to 140mph. If you want drag race fast, should of bought a mustang or transam. or anything else with a v8

Are you on crack?120 - 140mph?

Not many 4 BANGERS can REACH THAT SPEED.
The protege 5 sure as hell can't.

What you smoking?

A P5 or MP3 with a BEGI Turbo kit can/will lightly smoke a stock Mustang GT. The power to weight ratio is a great combo. You do the math. And for the record, I have had my MP3 up to a couple of miles under 140 MPH. This IS possible.

not only can they reach/top 120.......I have had mine to 125 with a little more left......it feels as smoothe as silk at those speeds.....

on vacation we traveled to upstate New York from Texas and back.....I drove nearly all the way.....and ran in packs of cars and trucks that normally averaged 90 MPH.....and with four in the p5, and all our lougage....still ran 90 with ease AND got 29 MPG!!! I just love this car....its such a blast.

i've gone 140mph before in my P5, that is the only reason i make the remark. I agree that a turbo protege can beat a mustang gt in 0-60(5.4 sec) and that going around corners is a thrill. I went around a corner with a friend and he flipped the car and i ended up in the hospital for a week and he only got a scratch so my corning thrill isn't much there anymore. neways my friend has a neon that ran a 12.1 quarter mile. 4bangers can go fast. but whens the last time u saw a protege run a 9 sec quarter mile street legal??? V-8's go faster in a straight line(and are rear wheel drive), inline4's are cheaper all the way around, so us not so wealthy people drive protege's. I love my protege 5 to death, but if i could afforded a trans am, i would have got it instead.

The BEGI turbo soon to be FM will be over 3K I expect around $3500. My car is alot faster then it was but I honsetly thought it would be quicker. There are 2 prolems with it right mow one is my tires are BALD. the other is the cars with the BEGI system run lean right now at part throatle so we have to floor it if we want boost and then they run very rich slowing us down. When the FM comes out I think you see some impressive gains but it is alot of money plus then the cash for a flywheel / Clutch not to mention the install charge if you can't do it yourself. Unfortunitly there realy is no way to get alot of drivable HP out of the P5 without a turbo.

By the way, yes the BEGI system will bring a protege to 140. I won't say I did it but I will tell you that a 1999 Maxima hits a wall at 128 MPH and the BEGI doesn't.

Also I dare anyone to challenge a certain Camaro owner around me to a race through the twisties. His modified SS is just god damn insane. Pony cars can be made to handle just like anything else and they do a good job of it right from the factory. A little $ in like any other car and it will stick with the best of them.

Back to your indever. It would seem the next step would be a header when it comes out, might already have I don't know. Then possibly a timing tweak to MP3 standards. After that cams.

140? Sorry dude not to be a dick but I gotta raise the . Only way I can imagine our P5's going 140 is strapped to the back of a lambo. I ve gotten it past 120 but that on a down hill run. You must have been going straight down to get it to 140. But I could be wrong.
