Does anyone know for certain that adding an Air intake system would void my warranty? I have not been able to find out much info other than maybe calling the dealer. I had a tough enough time buying the car I don't really want to talk to them though. Any thoughts?

When i got my Ractive Intake installed by the dealer they told me it wouldn't void the warranty.

I'm assuming this also holds true for the mazdaspeed exhaust too.

Just called the dealer and they said they wouldn't under any circumstance install one for me. And whether it would void my warranty or not was up to Mazda not them so I would have to contact them.

In my experience it varies greatly by dealer. Some dealers are very mod friendly while others don't want to touch a car with any modified parts. Most are somewhat reasonable. Lets say you put an intake on your car and your MAF sensor fails, if you take the car to the dealer with the aftermarket intake on then expect them to blame the intake because you modified a part that directly affects the failed part. On the other hand you go to the dealer to get something unrelated to the intake fixed, I wouldn;t expect them to give you any trouble. I've been to my dealer getting many problems fixed under warranty and never once did they comment on my intake. But like I said if a directly affected part such as a MAF sensor fails then expect them to blame the intake. I would not expect an intake to cause any problems with your car expect add some more power and a nice sound. But it is a risk you have to live with.

What Auditor said is the truth....and as a matter of fact..the LAW. you can modify your car all you want and it will NOT effect your warrantee at all....that is unless the modified part fails and causes the part you want to warrantee to fail...other wise you are fine....

NOW, does that mean that SOME dealers won't give you grief? hell no....because some will....others won't. but there is no way that they are going to stop me from making MY car into what I want it to be.....I will and do however keep all my stock parts just in case I need to reinstall them just to avoid a particular hastle at the dealer.......

on top of all that......if you do your homework, buy quality parts that are designed and tested on our cars/engines.....and you don't push your car to the very ragged edge of its abilities....then you will be fine and I wouldn't expect you to have any problems with your car at all.

I belive that Sir Nuke said is true. It's called the Magnusson-Moss Act.
