I just picked up my P5 from the shop because the shift fork in the tranny broke, I was just wondering if any of you had experienced the same problem? They said that it was due to shifting to hard and that it wasn't going to be covered under warranty again !! So, I was wondering if anyone had ever seen a titanium shift fork for it!!

A "stop" wouldnt help as the stress isnt given after the shift...its in the middle of the stroke.
hmmmm... that's not what I have been told... but I'm not surprised. I have just had experience where without an aftermarket shifter I was bending the forks on my 96 GT a LOT.. at someone else's suggestion, I put in a Steeda Tri-Ax with the positive stops and I no longer had any fork problems.
I am thinking mine might be bent because I grind a lot and have real hard shifts. should I have mazda change it out before I install my fly wheel? do you think mazda will install the fly for me its just the 15 lb from the 1.6 L?
I broke a 3-4 shifter fork. At least ours are steel, unlike the aluminum DSM forks. I've thought about setting up our shifter plate with stops to keep from overextending the shifter forks' tabs. I was hoping that the newer MS Pro would have a stronger G series box, but we shall see.
I just pulled a buddies transmission of of his 02 protege5 due to his shifter bushings were broken and he said it wouldn’t Omni gear. So I thought it was just the bushings, wrong. I replaced the entire shifter with a short throw bc I couldn’t find the little plastic pivot bushings anywhere. Put the new shifter in looks great but still no neutral. Which is weird bc I can manually get different gears under the car it felt like including reverse. So I told the buddy unfortunately I’m going to have to pull the transmission out. Either way it was gonna be me or a mechanic shop. Now I told my buddy that I’ve had zero time inside a transmission or an engine. I’ve done everything in between on vehicles though but I’m very mechanically inclined. His response was either was I’ll have to get it looked at but if you can fix it it’ll be a lot cheaper. So I figure it would be a learning experience, well after pulling the extension cover and not noticing anything out of place I moved to the main part of the case. A bunch of bolts later and I was amazed so far, as I’m checking everything out I start going through the gears and about the 10th time I noticed to wasn’t coming out of 3rd into 4th. Then I seen the issue. 3/4 gear shift fork was broken where the selector pulls the fork back down, which is why it wasn’t going into neutral. So I called my buddy and told him and he ordered the part so I’ll have it back together this week if the part comes. I’ll post another comment if it fixes it. I’m sure that was the problem bc the rest of the driveline looked great.
