Thanks! They are nice rims!

I didn't fid negative effects on the lower RPM's but the cams did the most on mid range and high rpms. The only thing i'm worrying about now passing emissions tests here in Vancouver, BC.

I realize that TheMan (edwin) is planning on putting a turbo on his car, and already has both cams and the intake manifold from the j-spec cars, but do the cams/manifold really help with the turbo? As the cams/manifold were designed to run on a higher compression engine w/o turbo, It seems to me that it's a waste of time if you plan on putting a turbo on later. Why not get custom ground turbo cams instead? Just curious.

By the way, TheMan, you're have a 1.8L, right? I saw the BJFP and assume that BJ is chassis and FP is engine type? Just checking - still relatively new to Proteges. 110-115hp with the mods you've done seems a little low for the FS-DE.

My new intake should be here today, cams are arriving on Thursday, and long tube headers should be here on Friday.

We'll get the intake and cams on for the dyno party on Saturday, but the headers will take some mods so it will be a while before we get the whole 'package' done!

I hope to have some pics up soon.

Thanks!

Karen

Because the cams are not wild and do not overlap any. Although they do increase the time that the valve is open, it is not a large enough change from stock to have any adverse affect on a forced induction motor.

As on why not get the others, it depends on how much you want to spend. You can get both of these cams for $300, whereas you would spend twice, maybe 3 times as much on custom regrinds. Also, if you would go with turbo cams, they would be high lift and would need upgrades to your valves, springs and lifters. It's all a matter of how money and how far you are going to build your motor.

Phantom,
Where did you locate your longtube header and how much did it set you back? That was one of the first things I was going to do with mine. The stock manifold is no good at all.

the cams are mild... turbo good!

point of putting in the cams... even out the powerband throughout the rpm range and provide something linear... something that the stock cams NEVER will give... have you seen dynos of any turbo protege? they spike at 3000-4000rpm and nosedive!

I still have a STOCK EXHAUST

I suggest you read the FAQ to find out what the chassis code means to find out what engine I have
