to those with an AEM intake...
ok, i did a little experimentation, just to see what the sound was like, and removed the resonance chamber above the radiator. i would like to get an intake, but not if it is going to make the car much-much louder than stock. i also like the looks of the AEM better than the Injen.
so, here is my question:
could someone try to give me a good description of how the car sounds with the AEM intake as compared to the stock set-up WITHOUT the resonance chamber above the radiator?
i would really appreciate it your comments.
oh yeah, this stems from an experience i had with my wife's civic. i bought an intake for her car, and the sound from the intake grew tremendously over the stock sound. however, my protege is much quieter than her car, both being stock.

well, like is said, i removed the chamber above the radiator, and the sound went up a little and turned into a deep growl, but not very noticable if you didn't know what it sounded like stock. i am thinking of taking the second chamber out to see what it sounds like then.
do you remember what it sounded like stock? how much louder is it?
thanks again.

so you mean that thing that hangs down in fron tof the air box? i am going to try and take that thing out to see what happens. i tried over my lunch break today, but the air box needs to come out and i didn't feel like monkying around with it then.

i don't know if it matters but i had a custom short ram at first and it was loud than stock. expecially at full throttle. other than that normal driving it is still louder than stock but not bad. i don't know if you have that cold engine rattle but with the intake it's slightly less than the rattle noise when normally driving. hope that helps a bit. when i put the stock airbox back in, man it was quiet.

from what i remember, it's much louder than stock above 2000RPM - it basically "growls" after 3000RPM all the way until you stop accelerating or shift.
when you floor it, it's much louder than stock.
it's very bearable with all the windows + sunroof opened.
i only notice the hissing when i turn off the car - then it makes this loud and very noticeable hissing noise for about 8 seconds.
but i've never heard my car from the outside - only the inside.
