A/T Transmission slipping

In reverse the tranny slips if I push the gas to hard.

Now the car was like this when I got it and just figured that I was just pressing too hard on the gas, solution use less trottle. Now im hearing that the tranny shouldnt be slipping at all. By slipping I mean when in reverse from a stop I press the gas nothing happens for a second and then I shread the tires after feeling like the car just got ramed.

TO the other guys with auto trannys does this happen to you? I figured it was just the way reverse was set up. Solutions?

warranty coverage.

how many miles do you have on your tranny and have you changed out the fluid lately? does this happen only on cold starts, or all the time?

No warranty.
It was like this before I changed the transmision fluid, and that was around a year ago.

It happens all the time hot, cold, summer winter.

I guess that means im screwed.

sounds like a valve body problem or low fluid. You should make sure you have the proper amount of fluid (and it's a decent color) then make sure you have the proper amount of pressure in the tranny...you'll need to go to a tranny shop for the pressure check.

My auto does not do that...follow the above instructions! If not take it to a shop get it flushed and then pressure checked.

if your tranny already has problems with it a flush won't fix it.....I used to have to tell this to people all the time....they think they can drive it into the ground and when it develops a problem THEN do the maintaince on it....doesn't work that way....it MAY help but I doubt flushing will fix anything.

Besides - it happens only in reverse... Must be in the valve body. Either way, above the skillz of your shade-tree technician.

I bought the car used with 50k miles. It always did this, it used to also squeak on the 3-2 shift but that seems to have whent away with a fluid change.

Looks like its time for a new car, before this gets any worse.
