Clutch Slipping

Hi Guys,

Was searching for aftermarket clutch when I chanced upon this forum.

Short Intro:
Singaporean drives a Mazda Protege 3rd Gen 1.6L (we only have 1.3l and 1.6l here)
Got bored with the power or rather the lack of it.

Spent loads of time searching for performance upgrades but really limited.
Made the final decision to Turbocharged my car. customed job but very popular here in Singapore.

Can anyone intro to an aftermarket clutch capable to taking 300 HP?

List of Mods:
HKS GT-SS Ball Bearing turbo (running 1 bar boost right now)
Custom Turbo Manifold
RX7 FC3S Intercooler
Micotech Replacement ECU LT-8
Microtech Dash Monitor
Upgraded Brakes from Stock to Honda Prelude 2.2l vtec (modified job)
Full customed Exhaust System 2.5 inch Straight Thru (de-cat)
Ported and Polished Head job with 3 angle valving.
Customed 3 plug racing clutch disc but still using stock pressure plate. (Clutch slipping due to pressure plate being too soft)

Future mods.
Custom Pistons from JE (Lowered compression ratio at 8:1, stock is 9:1)
Which will then allow me to boost up to 1.5 bar of boost.

that's one serious Protege

Look into ACT... go to their website and browse around.. You can also purchase the pressure plate alone.. Just be sure to email them

The closest I could find for my Protege is only the one below for the 1600cc model. Am not sure if the model fits as my protege belongs to the 3rd Gen rather than the 2nd Gen.

Protégé ‘96-00
1600 & 1800cc
200mm ZP1-HDSS 200 48% MZ-021 MBSD006 RB453 PB1005 AT20

Have already emailed them. No reply yet.

Just a suggestion, for those who wants to Turbo charged their Protege, the 1600cc engine can really take a whole lot of beating.

My 1600cc stock specs is only pumping 109BHP and 145NM,

recently dynoed my TCed Protege with the above mods based on 0.8bar boost to achieve 198BHP and 252NM using my older Turbo, a Garrett T28 Stock Nissan Silva 200SX.

Now I am running a HKS GT-SS turbo on 1 bar boost and the engine is still holding. My mech tells me that I can bring it up to 1.2 bar boost but i am still reluctant.
