Pro 5 Tranny reliability ?

Hi,
i ran across this board while doing research on a future buy.
I want to buy a Pro 5, but I have a question concerning the trannys.
i have read on here that quite few of you are having problems with the stick. If I just plan on using the car as a daily driver with maybe CAI/header/muffler upgrades will the stock Manual tranny live?

Also what is the reliability of the stock AutoSport automatic? Any known issues?
Thanks!

The only problem I've had with my tranny is some bad stiffness during the winter time but when I got my car the temperature went way down and wasnt too higher than -40F. I put some redline oil in it and I think it fixed it but I will have to wait till next winter to find out. I dont know if people have ruined their transmission but I know a couple have had problems. I would guess by the mods they have though that they were driving their cars really hard. I drive my car pretty easily but I do get on it once in a while.... No complaints in that situation.

Thanks for the reply.
I was figuring as much.

Well, it is settled, I test drove an automatic and a 5 speed today, sometime this week or next, I will be the proud owner of a new 2003 Pro 5.

If anyone else wants to chime in on the reliability of the 5 speed, please do.
thanks!

To my knowledge the ONLY people that have had ANY problems with their 5speeds are those guys that have been racing them....powershifting...and generally applying some abuse from that aggressive style of driving.....from what you descriped....the types of mods you plan on and NORMAL driving...you will have a trouble free 5 speed....just like I DO!
