Question new intake

i added a ractive intake today....the engine sounds louder and has a growl to it when you accelerate. i'm not sure i like it though, the engine sounds too loud and too rough.
what improvements are there suppose to be with this intake?

i had it installed by mazda...i wonder if they would charge me any $$ to take it back..
also theres a slight vibration on the pedal
when i go from 1st to 2nd...
any thoughts would be welcome....
thanks dudes!

Talking

yeah, im new to this. pls disregard the above comments.

i drove my car quite a bit a i think the ractive intake is the coolest!
the engine is more responsive,it feels like it has more power, theres this cool growl when you accelerate, the rpm is lower on the highway and it seems like 1st and 2nd gears have become more smoother.
the car also takes off much better, smoother and faster in 1st and 2nd.

the car feels and drives more sporty!
i took my friend for a drive and he was v.impressed and he was saying how cool it sounds now.
i'm so glad i got it

it's like giving the engine a total makeover!

Hey jjac28, where did you get the Ractive intake from? I see you can get them from Canadian Tire now of all places but I didn't find out the price. I know I can order it too from some of the Chinese performance shops but I have yet to actually see one in the stores.

Also, how much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks!

I got the intake too, but I removed it since it rattled too much sometimes, and a bit loud for my tastes.

Anyways, the rubbing may be because the first section of the intake, that is that near the throttle or strut bar or firewall is in contact with the brake cylinder, causing the slight vibration you experience. Go and check that for the problem.

And if it isn't done right, take it back to the installer and tell them to correct it.

Thumbs up ok now

it's all ok now, it was rubbing against this one piece so i took it back to mazda. the tech put in a special sticky sponge between the intake and this metal thing. its good now.
thats why i like my dealership installing stuff...they have to take responsibility for any trouble.

Redfyre, I noticed that Circuit City is selling ractive intake systems in the Car Audio departments along with some xenon lights, eurolites, etc. thought you might wanna know that.

Holy cap guys! I just found the Ractive intake at Canadian Tire of all places! It's $104.51 for the Ractive short ram intake. They also have lots of performance parts at pretty good prices believe it or not for our Proteges and P5's.

You can check the parts out, order them and such at www.canadiantire.ca

I think I'll get myself a intake next week...

P5Mazda , thanks for the tip.
