Mazda Speed Protege Prototype Intake
Hey,
So I was bored so I made this Intake for the Speed out of an old Civic intake i had lying around.
As far as gains are concerned i don't know if there are any, when i go dyno it i'll let you know.
but it cuts 500 RPM off of Spool up time and it sounds really cool.
Tell me what you think.

Nice job!
Is that where the stock airbox on the MSP gets its air? The other Proteges have a front silencer where it gets air near the front grille. The area seems to have no room for it to get air though.
I removed the front silencer on mine, and now it gets air similar to your intake setup. I'm a bit worried the air may be a bit hot, but then the air is continually replaced when the car is moving. Not to mention you don't have to worry about water ingestion.

Great idea on the intake, if you can drop it down anymore some how it would be ideal! i read a review that said that if you put an intake (didnt specify whether cold air or just a filter) that it would increase the HP up to 30 Horses! Now i dont know how true that is, but the guy said that the turbo is being suffocated so much for factory reliabilities that its not performing to what it could be!

More like 1-5 HP on a lucky day.

The sensor you refer to is the Intake Air Temperature sensor. Any air intake system you devise should include a provision for mounting it.
