Magnaflow Pictures and Sound

I recently purchased a Magnaflow direct bolt on kit for my Protege5. When I was looking to buy, I couldn't find many pictures or sound bytes out there, so I thought I'd put some up so others like me can see it before they buy. Excuse the water on the pictures, but I live in upstate and washed the undercariage just before taking the photos.

One thing that I noticed right away that was particularly apealing to me....no big frigin canister in sight, only a beautiful chrom tip.

Upon installation, the tip wasn't quite centered and I worried a little about it hitting the bumper, but after driving around alittle bit, it straightened itself right out.

Can't really read it in this image, but in the larger one it's readable....Magnaflow Performance Exhaust

I have the original full size images if anyone wants a better look. Just shoot me a PM and I'll email them to you. Also, I plan on getting some sound clips soon, but my digi camera doesn't pick up bass too well, so I'm going to have to find some other way to get it (camcorder or something).

For the money, this kit is absolutely awesome. It was $345.00 shipped from Top End Motor Sports (www.topendmotorsports.com). I just want to say, the service was absolutely awesome. I ordered the kit last friday, at about this time, and it got to me tuesday of this week (3 day turn around).

I definitely like how this kit fits much better than a lot of the others. It looks clean with no canister under the bumper or huge tip. It fits as close to perfectly as you can get on this car.

Soundwise, I was suprised how deep it sounded right on startup. It wasn't quite as loud as I expected, but that'll change with a header and highflow Cat! It definitely sounds mean from the cabin, especially on takeoff. It never gets ricey, but just stays deep and mean. No real "droning" on the interstate except around 3500RPM when under full load (going up a hill, accelerating) but for cruising, comfrotable sound level.

I noticed a little performance gain right away. Better throttle response and a little more pep from ~3200RPM upwards. Not something that'll make your head spin, but it definitely opens it up. I'm getting really excited about my header.

Installation took me about 3hrs but could be cut to probably 1.5hrs with a lift or nice sized jack and temperature above 20 degrees (yeah, i did it outside at night in upstate NY......crazy). This is definitely the best b-day present I bought myself ever!

careful with the header/hi-flow/exhaust combo. they get kinda raspy.
