just got a cone filter

i went out to the local advance auto parts today and got an APC bolt on cone filter today. i did it just to hold me over till i can get the money for a CAI, but i have to say im impressed with it. no noticable change in power other than when your running between 5000 and 6000 rpms, it doesnt seem to run out of power as fast. but the thing ive noticed the most is better throttle response. also it just sounds great. cant wait to get the cash for a good CAI or short ram intake.

How was the install? What did you do with that little rod-looking sensor in the airbox? I was looking at cone filters, but didn't know what that sensor was.

Im pretty sure that the one thats in the airbox is just a temperature sensor. all i did was i took off the rubber hose for the intake that is on the car, and made a hold in the rubber just big enough to stick the sensor through. it seems to have worked really well. just make sure that you make the hole far enough back so that you can get the MAF sensor all the way back on the hose. also i think tomorrow im going to put the bottom of the airbox back in the car. the cone filter that i bought is small enough to almost fit inside of it, so im going to stick it down inside it to use it as a heat shield. after going out and running a little bit earlier, i stoped and checked it to make sure everything was holding in good and tight, and i noticed that the filter was very warm to the touch. so im hoping that the bottom of the airbox will keep the heat from the radiator away from it. the fan on the radiator blows the hot air right on the filter.
