intake/exhaust cams

i know i know, use the search, and i did. guess i was just using the worng words.

where should i get the new cams from.

i was trying to find out if they came ready to install straight out of the package, or if i would have to grind them.

anyway, if anyon could clear this up i'd be most appreciative.

you can get either. one intake cam (the JDM SP20 version) is ready to go out of the box and eitehr the Mazdaspeed cam is the unground one or the corksports is. cant remember. But if you can afford the unground cam(s), and the cost of grinding them, thats the way to go. Im not sure if anyone has even done that before. I would call someone like Crower or Crane Cams and see if they would grind these cams for you.

of course, get ready to drop some serious cash into this setup as youll need allot better valve springs, retainers, and most of all, a raised rev-limit. Which youll have to have a custom ECU for that which, =$$$$$! However, you could think about grinding the cams to have just a little more mid-range than the J-Spec cams do and thus not have to worry w/ the whole ECU thing. But actually, even w/ the J-Spec cams we really need an ECU as I current ECU runs WAY too rich and limits our power severly! But good luck!

try the j-spec/fs-ze cams. no grinding necessary.

yeah

im just looking for the ones that are ready to go right outta tha box.

when it come time to get an upgraded ecu, whether it be a piggy back, a completly new stand-alone or an aftermarket one that actually works, i would consider having them grinded to increase power.

i was just under the pretense that they needed to be grinded to actually go into the car to work, period.

guess thats why you shouldnt listen to friends who drive hondas and know dick, <shrugs>.

so any of the cams offered on srmotorsports, corksports, or protege5online would be ready to go in as soon as i got em?

thanks
