Please do some research on your own and do not take my word or a guy from Mazda.

AEM just tested 3 of there setups against Injen and even AEM admits that the Injen gained more HP(on AEM's website). There are even more facts out there it just takes some time to look unless you are lazy and prefer to be mis-informed.
Hey Jciforever, can i get the site address? i was going to get CAi but ppl told me there were no hp gain, so i was thinking about getting AEM, but like u said, Injen gained more HP then, i would definitely get CAI baby~

See what you can dig up if you just spend a little the time. It may make people mad sometimes but at least you are informed and have made the right choice.

Email from Ryan at Injen
Old news now. I already saw this. We had Skunk 2 dyno it and they said no
way to AEM's results. The made 15hp to the wheels and saw a high of 17.
Also, Gary Castillo dyno tested our intake (he was also at AEM dyno days)
and he said he backs our numbers. He said our results were true when he made
15hp also. I guess the public can believe whomever they wish but 5
independent dyno tests show we made 13-18 hp to the wheels. Did you know R&D
dyno tested our intake 2 weeks earlier and still get about 15 hp. Some think
that AEM turned the a/c on our run cus that would lose 8-10 hp to the
wheels.
I don't care what AEM says anyway. They are a big company that has a
reputation. How could they let an underdog like Injen beat them? They knew
they could not beat us so that is why they tried to discredit us. I like AEM
but I think they are spending too much time worrying about us. They should
just concentrate on their own business as we are. They're just mad because
they never thought Injen would come so far? Do you understand what I am
saying? I was the VP 5 years ago of Akimoto. I know this intake business. In
4 years we have effected market share and they know we are dangerous. I wish
everybody would just stop. You too. I know you mean well but your email to
show me this builds up a little anger. I thank you but understand we all
must move on now.
Best regards,
Ryan Takashima

You're being a little misleading. First, the test was on an RSX and RSX type-S; NOT a protege. The results vary from car to car. Second, the gains for the AEM CAS were better than the injen for the type-s. AEM didn't compare their CAS to and Injen CAS. So, the test is a little skewed.

This place sells AEM protege intakes for under $160.00, unless they've changed their prices since I last checked.

Unless someone is going to dyno these two intakes on a protege, it comes down to price and style. Flip a coin.

Swedenhouse, the price you got on your intake was great, but it was wrong! Well, I am betting on it was wrong because that price is well below retail (which is 320.00) and well bellow jobber/wholesale (which is the price most shops pay for it). I am an authorized Injen dealer and unless this store is ordering up thousands at a time or losing money on it, they cant sell it for that price. Not to mention Injen would actually revoke their dealership if they where actually selling at that price. But you got a great deal! I love finding things priced wrong that I can get for a great price when I go into stores!

Where on the two links you provided does it show a dyno of the Injen out performing the AEM for the Protege? I don't care about the RSX. That is a VTEC engine with a totally different powercurve than a Protege. Not to mention the Protege ECU seems to be a little bit fussy. It's tough to compare to an RSX. I thought the links were interesting and all but I haven't seen anything that tells the Injen for the Protege outdoes the AEM. This doesn't really offer anything of use to this particular discussion, except the gains for an RSX.

I still don't know which application is better and I've seen nothing to show otherwise. AEM says their's is better. Injen says their's is better, wow, big surprise. Who do you want to believe? You've put this to rest for yourself perhaps but there seems to be a lot of people who would actually like to see some kind of proof.

Yeah I thought that price was a little whacky, that's why I jumped right on it. Although they did have a **** ton of Injen boxes in the back garage area. I mean piles of them, like 6 feet high and ****. I got quoted the price on the phone, then when I went there some other dude helped me, I talked to a chick on the phone, and this dude had no idea I called. He brought me out the box, checked his price list, and told me $180. I was gonna get ready to bitch, because I thought for sure, the girl had screwed up, and I was gonna try to get it for that price, but when the the other dude got that price out of his price book, I was like well ***** it.
