how long to reset ECU

how long to reset ECU

I just replaced my throttle body and wanted to know how long and what i need to do to reset my ECU. Any help would be great. Thanks

if you are just looking to kill the charge in the car then unhook the battery, press the the break a few times, and wait like 5 mins and it should be fine.

do the above...and ENSURE you disconnect the NEGITIVE terminal of your battery...NOT the positive.

then after doing the above...start the car and allow it to idle for about 10 minutes...this gives the ECU a little time to RELEARN your car and all the NORMAL settings. then drive as if nothing had happened.

What would happen if you did only unhook the positive? What about both? Just curious...

yep...never take off the positive first. then the battery may discharge way more than the 12v and possibly more amps and make quick work of the electronics in your car. If you do ever take out the positive, then unplug the negative so that both terminals are unplugged, then plug in the positive, then the negative. The negative terminal should always be the last terminal connected

yes.. what they said.. you hit the brake a couple times to discharge any capacitors that still hold a charge.

where did you get the throttle body from? i remeber seening one a while back but have been unalble to find it again.
