Yea it was the latest sport compact and also i read that they did a baseline of 125 hp at the wheels!!! i thought we had around 100 to the wheels? This is what traveler had in his car. Or is his gen different than the 2002 MP5? i have a ATX MP5 and i want to know what the HP on the MP5 of 2002 is to the wheels!!!

Does the manual have more hp than the ATX? if so than how much?

The 2.0L engines in the 2002 Protege 5's produce basically the same amount of power. The power at the wheels is likely to be slightly lower for the automatic transaxle equiped cars due to increased losses through the torque convertor.

Ok duely noted but why does sport compact have it at 125 when he has 98 and with all his mods still don't have but 112 i think. confusion. So is sport compact lyeing? Iunderstand about the ATX vs. MANUAL hp thing though.

I haven't seen the article in SCC, so I don't know what other mods they've made. Also power production does vary from engine to engine as well as different dynos and conditions will yeild different results as well. Dyno results of the same engine on the same dyno under similar conditions are really the only ones useful for comparison and tuning purposes.

Well i didn't read the article. but what i did see was that they baselined at 125 and the they put the cat back i think and it gave about 2-3 hp and the air filter gave about 2 hp and then when they put a silencer in it lost 2 hp. It said that if you can deal with the exhaust tone then you can keep the 2 hp. But that was the short of the article. It was only about a page and a half long. But thanks for the input.

It wasn't sport compact car. It was a different magazine and it wasn't the same type of dyno that was used by others on this board. I can't find the issue right now. They installed an HKS intake/filter, and an HKS exhaust.

Just buy a universal muffler and get the sucker welded on That way you have a little incentive to get full piping done also

ok, the protege5 coverge is in the August issue of Turbo:

They installed an intake, exhaust, some wheels, and springs (I think).
If you need to read everything that has Proteges in it, then buy this issue.
