Greddy e-manage

i searched the threads but can't get a current & solid answer
about the e-manage on the protege

my local "tuner" shop says it's perfect because it
changes out-going signals from the computer
which works with the open-loop scenario

allowing mild fuel and spark changes

does anyone know for sure if this is true
does e-manage work or not

if it does then the Ultimate, that just came out, is even cooler

I've been wanting to get with you about a gauge bezel bro-ham....

to answer your question: Yes the e-manage will work but prepare for some headaches. I know of at least 3 mazdaspeed pro's running e-manage and larger injectors. I don't know how WELL it runs but it'll run.

I also want to go with the Ultimate. I talked about it for hours at our last meet. It's an awesome system. the problem that I've seen with it (only one person has tried it yet)...is that the ultimate is pre-programmed to recognize the 1.8L miata MAF but not the 2.0L protege MAF. My suggestion was to just get a 1.8L MAF with some extra wire length and splice it onto the protege MAF harness. Then you'd just run the set-up maps for the miata and fine tune from there. The guy who was trying this though gave up and wimped out....no'one else has picked up his torch and tried it since then.

I'm VERY seriously considering it because I'll need something for my new supercharger. If someone was willing to donate one to me or split the cost with me or something I'd happily figure it out. I've got some great ecu guys here that can help get it sorted out.

that sounds promising

so your saying run 2 individual MAF sensors
one for the e-manage
one, factory for the oem computer

my time frame is'nt till Jan. before i can
pick one up...or i would sure try to chip in
what are the chances of getting 16 people to chip-in 50 bucks..hehehe

oh...and you might have me confused with someone else on the gauge bezel, sorry

no no, I'm saying cut off your stock MAF on the wires and splice on this new miata MAF. They use the same 3-wire hook-up with a different connector since the MAF's are different.

The Ultimate will basically be a full standalone so it doesn't matter which MAF you use as long as you use one it'll recognize. It comes pre-mapped for a miata MAF just not a protege MAF. Swap the two out and I bet it'll work like a champ.

There is a member of msprotege named Leadfoot that has made custom gauge bezels....you're not him?

the ultimate is a full standalone so the stock ecu is only used for minimal operations. Everything concerning engine driveability is handled by the e-manage. Basically even if the computer DOES have a problem with it thee's nothing it can do about it since the e-manage handles the fuel and timing
