D'oh! How Do I Remove the Gasket...
...that goes around the spark plug and the spark module 'boot'?
Looking at the engine - the far right spark plug....
I removed the coil pack/integrated spark boot and the rubber gasket stayed in the engine firmly stuck to the spark plug...
I shelled out an extractor and tried to unscrew the plug thinking the gasket would come with it... Nope. The gasket prevents you from getting a bite with the socket...
I ended up just putting the boot/pack back on - problem running.
So.
How do i get the rubber donut gasket back out? Which ?
Thanks!

First I have a few questions:
Is that the only plug that you tried to pull, or did you change the other 3? Do the other 3 plugs have this rubber piece? Does it look like it is part of the boot? Did you buy this car used? I recently changed the plugs on my P5, and did not see anything like that. It almost sounds like someone left the rubber insert from their spark plug socket on the #4 spark plug the last time they changed the plugs. Try removing the rubber insert from your socket and see if it will fit on the plug. Other than that, I have no idea what it is.

The first three went well and on the other coil pack-over-the-plug had the same rubber gasket to seal the plug to the boot ( to keep moisture out i am sure...). The socket still has the rubber donut to hold the plug upon removal (but it doesn't work well....)_.

Bah! It is still there holding the old plug in! I tried again with a new extracton tool (mechanical fingers - needle nose pliers won't fit....).
I tried wedging/pulling it up with a screwdriver - no joy.
Maybe those loooong needlenose pliers would work....
