the tiptronic sucks. The manual gives you full control all the time and the most power you cn get out of the car. The "semi-automatic" still pulls as much power from the engine as the auto.

Then again it's all a matter of preference.

Plus the added delay while the automatic shifts.

I don't agree at all. The time the tiptronic takes to shift is no longer then it takes you to move the lever from gear to gear. The only thing I dislike about my TT is the gear ratio which is still the same one as the AT.

One more thing for you guys. Its not a Tiptronic. Thats a registered trademark of VW and Porsche (who developed the Tiptronic). You have a manumatic for lack of better words.

And I have driven the "sportshift" or whatever the hell they call it and a real Tiptronic on a VW 1.8T Jetta. The Tiptronic was much better, something about that extra gear, but both really sucked *** when it came to control. The engine went over my desired RPM, took extra time to shift, and generally made a big annoyance of itself.

that's cuz the ECU is still waiting to process all the info coming into it before the gear will shift. You can do the same thing starting w/ overdrive off and running from 1st to second to drive then to overdrive.

But then there is still a delay from switching the gear especially if you are revving high.

I know it's not a "Tiptronic" That's like saying "Band aid" or "Velcro" it's a brand name that is synonymous with the item in everyday use.
