I heard you can buy a filter cleaner from AutoZone and its a liquid that you poor into a bucket or something, and let the filter sit in it. I dunno, I am also looking to clean mine, and more than likely am gonna try this in a few weeks.

Have you checked AEM's website, or the instructions you got with the intake?

I didn't get instructions with mine, but I guess when you pay $50+ extra for the name, might as well give you the pamplet

Just go to a local parts store and pick up a K&N filter charger cleaning kit. Its what I use on my Injen. It comes with two spray bottles, one is cleaner, you spray it liberally all over the the cone, and lit it sit for about 5 minutes or so. then take your garden hose, and spray from the inside of the cone to out (to spray any particle or debris away and not through the the ficlter, and into where it could be sucked in your intake). Once you sprayed it out real good, it should almost look white, well a little pinkish. Just let it sit in the sun and dry for about a half hour. Once its dry, then hose it down with the red filter juice in the other bottle. It'll coat your filter, and all that protective crap and stuff, and give it that brand new red look again. Its pretty easy, and I think i picked the kit up for about 8 bucks or so.

If you want to speed up the drying process used compressed air. You can have it completely dry and ready to put the oil on with only a couple minutes of blowing the water out.

I heard that compressed air damages the fiber mesh of the filter, thereby damaging it and reducing filtering ability.
