So your saying the exhaust is the better way to go.

So www.protege5online.com is basically the only place I could find the exhaust discounted online.

Tried Google and other search engines but couldnt find anymore prices.

Where did everyone on this board buy there exhaust and what type of gains did you experience?

PS.

I used the search button.

It depends on what you want. Nitrous will give you a much larger power gain, but there is a bit more risk with it, and it's temporary. You will have to find a place to get the bottle filled, and will need to do so often if you use it much. The exhaust won't give you a very large gain in power because the primary restriction in our exhuast systems is the primary cat and pipe that connects it to the rest of the exhaust.

Since your in FL, you should use the Federal version.

Also how much should I expect to pay for the system from Bosal?

Lastly which is the right one to get , the Federal one or the California one , I have a 2000 ES.

Actually, the Bosal cat back exhaust system uses 54mm piping. For all you metrically challenge people, that's about 2.125". Borla also has a 2.25" cat back system available and Racing Beat just released their 60mm (~2.362") cat back system.

Is there a difference between this and any universal muffler?
Cause I can get a universal one for much cheaper.

A universal muffler changes just that, the muffler only. A cat back system includes all of the exhaust from the catalytic convertor back to the muffler tip. A cat back system is usually used to increase the diameter of the stock exhaust piping to reduce exhaust gas backpressure due to flow restrictions.

What about a custom 2.25 inch piece coming off the CAT to an aftermarket Muffler?

Would it yield the same results?

Probably, especially if it's mandrel bent. It may rust before the stainless steel based systems though.

The Bosal is not a 2.25in system..as Eric F has already mentioned...sorry Mitch...but get your info right (you wouldnt want to mislead anyone). I have also personally measured the Bosal's inner diameter and it is DEFINITELY a 2 inch system.

I don't know about the 2" inner diameter, but the outer diameter is 54mm, as I said before. That works out to about 2.126", so you're not being shorted .25". The inner diameter might be 2" at some of the bends, but it shoud be slightly larger than that elsewhere, unless the tubing thickness is .126"? Either way, the major restriction are further forward than the cat-back system anyway, so the piping is larger enough unless you are running so type of forced induction.
