Boost + Gearbox = Lound bang + no drive

OK how true is this, I have herd that boosting the 2.0 FS series tends to make it a gearbox eating machine, I have found 300 WHP capable Chrome Molly drive shafts, but not much in the way of gearbox hardware that claims to hold that kind of power.

I have found the clutch i want to use that will hold 280 Ft/lbs torque.. but everything between the flywheel and half shafts seems to be seen as consumable well in the UK I canf afford a new box every week and neither can I afford a straight cut dog box as it would cost twice the rest of the project..

so any ideas please ??

i'm afraid not....the tranny in the protege's is the same one in my SHO and I blew it up 3 times right around 280lb/ft.... Thats why I'm planning for my kit to do no more than 250hp/250lb-ft

This is NOT what I wanted to hear GRRR... I dont suppose anyone has looked into what other boxes might fit ?

I am going to see if the Probe V6 will fit on the FS engine.. those seem to take more..

the main problem is the diff...spider gears like to grenade...get a strong LSD..you could easily run 300lb ft then....

Last time I looked the Quaffe unit was not too bad on the price too...

So WITH the LSD you think I stand less chance of eating Gearboxes then ?? well if its going to be a one off build then I think a new box and quaffe may well be on the parts list then..

$1300 = £700 UKP, a second hand box would cost me half that.. and besides I dont want the hastle of changing boxes just so I can go and kill it on the strip !
