Bobfish, thanx for that lil pict of the tachometer.. That's awesome.. kinda scary that you were probably taking that picture though, but it's all good..
I dont' have a tach and i have no idea of what the engine was revvin at, but now i know and don't feel so bad gettin it up there.
Thnx again..
And i will be looking into a good intake now!! Anything to make a slight difference. But i found it handles great at that speed also. But i do have 195/16 don't know the profile off hand. But stock suspension. Gonna lower the suspension too. soon, soon...

You're gonna think that I'm lyin' but I had mine at 195km/h (122mph) and it absolutely couldn't do more. That was bone stock with 13" wheels. I had it going 180km/h (112mph) many times with 15" rims, and it could still go faster.
I am little suprised that that most people didn't get up to this speed. Mine is 5 speed ofcourse, automatic would probably top out at 160km/h (100mph).
Next time I'm gonna take a picture as a proof, since some of you are probably sceptics.

bruce those tires you had on your 16's were not the right size... you should have had 205/40/16... your speedo reading was a bit off but it was actually reading slower than you were going but a few miles per hour... so you were going a little faster than you thought
oh and i can't seem to get over 105 but haven't tried downhill yet

murcielago, I am not positive, but I think that was with my stock intake. Which makes me wonder how'd I'd work now. At high revs my intake gets looooooooud so even if it doesn't affect much performance, I'll get some nice tunes comin from under the hood!

Heh taking the pic was somewhat of a scary experience. My 1.5L being a weak engine took a long time to get up that high, so I had to find a nice treecovered area. That's so no state troopers would see me from the other side
Cruise control is a blessing so I didn't have to hold the pedal.
First I cruised at 70, more confident, 80, later 100
Never went that fast in a car before so I had to freeze time by taking a picture of MY car. Woot!

Fuel Octane
I have a 1.8 and it tops at 169kmph (auto). In regards to the octane levels not effecting the cars performance, that is not true. If you read the owners manual it says to not get gas that has less than 91 octane and no methanol/ less than 10% ethanol. This is because it is from Japan where the lowest octane you can get at the pumps is like 99. It will screw up your ECU if you constantly run on 87/86 octane, not to mention that it feels nice to care for your car.

and they don't have 99 octane minimum, it's just that they use a different rating system for octane numbers.
How would it screw up the ECU?
