Very Confused

OK i have a '97 lx "Special Edition" (the tag on the door says sepcial edition)

Well anyway, i've been very confused about it being a "special Edition", so i've been doing some research and this is what i found...

My dash is set up like the '98's, and the '97 are supposedly different. Kbb.com says my fuel capacity is 14.5 gal, and it's actually 11.2 gal. The sticker in my door says Chasis is BG1s-NAB, it also says the engine code on my car is CE04D16, not Z5. It also says the Destination is: NU (I dunno if NU is a country or what.) I looked up the VIN decoder, and my vin has 1 less # than there is supposed to be. North American model VIN #'s are supposed to start as JM#, mine starts with JMBC.

I am extremly confused, can aybody help me out????

The BC following JM is the engine designation. If your gas tank is rated at holding 14 gallons you can't put 14 gallons in it when you fill it up. There will always be quite a bit of gas in the tank even if you run out because the fuelpump can't pick the fuel up unless it's at the top of the fuelpump intake. So that leaves a gallon or 2 still in the tank. Say the gas tank is 3 feet wide and 3 feet long. There has to be an inch of fuel or more for the pump to pick it up. Thats quite a bit of fuel. I assume thats what you mean.
No telling on the NU thing.

Ok, if you work for mazda, you must know why it's a special edition, and why on the sticker inside the door says that the engine code is CE04D16..

Why don't you carry your squirly *** to a dealership and quiz a salesman as to why it's a special edition. I just work on them and could'nt care less what they call them. I posted to help you out,not to be bashed and proded.Geez. You have too much time on your hands if you care about a few numbers on your vin. Not like theres anything you can possibly do about any number you don't deem appropriate. The number on the door is for the PCM ID btw.

Well now that I viewed this thread I checked my VIN as well and I dunno if i read it wrong but here it is

JM1BB141XT0xxxxxx

what confuses me is the Body Style part

apparently it's supposed to be a 20 something number
and mines a 14?

Hey Mazdaguy!
Although I agree with you partially, that it is really not a big deal . You don't have to react so harsh. Noone is calling you names or anything like that. We are just basically showing what we have found to explain the Vin numbers.

On this entire Forum , there are going to be people that will disagree with you at times. You can't just jump up and attack, but rather just chill out , see their point , accept it ,yet still show your point of view from your perspective...

Noone is out to bash you or discredit anything you say..
