somebody back me up, im starting to look stupid.
the clutch and transmission are two seperate entities...one disengages the driveshaft from the transmission the other actually changes the gears...

if someone says they've got 2k miles on a tranny, it most likely means that it's been rebuilt (unless it's new or something). if you ask them how many miles the car has on it, and they respond "100k miles" they're probably talking about the engine/chassis, not the tranny (if they had stated that the tranny only had 2k miles on it).

now the clutch and transmission are separate?

uhh, no.
the clutch is PART OF the transmission. There are no gears on a clutch last time i checked...
if you two taught an automotive class, they'd fail.

ok, despite that nice **** retentive series of posts that made me post on the 2nd page, i'd recommend the rims and a sound system. unlike other mods you would put onto your protege, you can always reuse your headunit, speakers, amps, subs.. in another car (for the most part ). as far as rims, you can always come on here or ebay and try and ship your rims out, some ol' clown is always looking for rims...as i am right now . yeah, car may have lots of mileage on it, but just be proud it's gone that far. i mean, could break down for good in a year, or maybe in 5, who knows, not like you'll see much of the money you put into the car at any rate, you had might as well have fun with something you can actually throw on another car. just my .02 cents. as far as tranny vs. clutch... drop it
peace

now, if you'll shut up and try to actually learn something....
the clutch and transmission ARE two seperate entities.. The clutch is located inside the transmission bell housing... and while a seperate peice, being inside the bellhousing leads some people to consider it part of the transmission.. however, it is not the SAME as the transmission...

now, if the dipshit seller says "i replaced the clutch 2,000 miles ago" and says "new transmission" in the ad, either he's talking about two seperate peices or he's a ******* retard who did'nt deserve his car anyways.

please, i beg of you, aZnRicer..... keep your mouth shut, and go back to installing your altezzas, and leave the technical advice to people who know what the **** they're talking about, ok?

ooo some ****** forgot to take their midol. i said nothing to offend anyone here in the first place. i just wanted to get one thing straight. sure i can sell my car and buy a civic. know why? because the amount of mods we're limited to install on the protege should be considered RICE. you're probably some underpaid low salary ******* who drives his only car (protege) as a daily beater-but why not do it in style? so take the rice route.
until you buy another car, hopefully american scrap metal, (leave import racing to tokyo), i'll trade my pro in for a civic.
dont forget your tampax.

What the hell are you talking about? The number of mods for our car is great! I've got a great suspension set-up that I love ($400) and a lot more power headed my way.

Remember, you came here spouting off racial slurs, don't think you're gonna earn any respect from me. If nothing this is indictive of your total stupidity, and every time you try to defend your self you're just going to be sticking your head further up your *******.

then let me stick my head further up my ***. i don't need your respect. i'm here like everyone else, trying to learn something. the fact that i got confused over this clutch/transmission **** doesnt prove im a ricer. the name is sarcastic. like how i made those "racial slurs", my name rep.s that im asian and the rice stands for how you idiots bias asian people as rice boys.

I was talking about this post....

whats with the rice jokes? after all, you people (you know who you are) are using a rice rocket to beat others. you should be thrown back into your ford taurus and have ME rape you with the rice rocket. and after you have your *** handed to you, i'll rant and ramble as you do, and celebrate with a giant rice cake. *clears throat* anywho, im just irritated because some white boy at the movie theater ticked me off and i'm tryin to quit smoking. ok, so i'm at the movies with my girlfriend goin to see bruce almighty. we're looking for our seats and stuff, and the fast and furious movie trailer comes on the screen. then i hear someone in the crowd yell: "ricers suck". ok, so i defend the reputation and yell back "yea but you drive our cars and ****** our women". the crowd laughs, and me and my female sit down. the trailer is still on-and the part comes up where the lancer zips right between the two trailor trucks and the mustang tails him and gets trampled. so i yell "HA HA". ok, about 2 hours (more or less) later, the movie is finished. the kid (i suppose it was him. eminem's pre-pubescent twin) along with some friends found me, some little high school punks with probably just a learners permit comes up with his puerto rican friends with pimples and peach fuzz as facial hair ask if i wanted to race. i'm like, ok, so we all meet at town fair tire where theres an outlet for the bridge thats about half a mile long. the white boy had a 2nd gen eclipse with a big fart can, 25 shot of nitrous (so he claims), body kit and intake. i think he bought it modified because he still had a temp. plate on the back windsheild (from the junkyard they call the "mitsubishi dealership"). the typical high school boy modifications. his little spic friends where in the pimped out-no faster than a bicycle-mitsubishi mirage and a pretty little cavalier with exhaust, intake, port polish, 16's and again, a claimed "turbo manifold". and i STRESS those quotation marks. i didnt bother to ask them to pop the hood. anywho, we get out on the strip - 3 lanes: cavalier, eclipse and me. 1 of the spics flag us to start. I hit the friction point dead on, and start hauling ***. the shift to second sucked cuz by then, the cavalier caught up to my drivers side door. little mistake but not the end of the world because as soon as i put it in third i left him about 3 1/2 - 4 car lengths behind. by now, the eclipse cuts off the cavalier and is at my rear bumper. im not really trying, so i ease my foot off the accelerator and let him pull up to my side. we make eye contact and i floor it again and let the spic have a whiff of some fresh carbon monoxide. i slow down and pull into the next exit and head back to town fair tire. NEWSFLASH: the cops are there with the spics in the mirage, shittin their pants. i already knew, i had a laser/radar detector handy but my girl insisted we take a gander. so i drive by and we laugh hysterically and head home. my car looks basically stock so i wouldnt see a reason for the cops to get suspicious.
Spic seems like a racial slur to me, does it to you?

I don't care if you don't know something.
if you two taught an automotive class, they'd fail.
Mazdaspeedwest told you politely the right thing, and you spew this line back?

I don't care if you're a "ricer." I'm not trying to prove that. I was just re-iterating your stupidity, and I don't think I need to any further...
