my mechanic says just take a pressure washer and some degreaser or tire cleaner to it...he's done it plenty of times to his prelude...says he just sprays the crap out of it...and it has 450000km. just gotta be careful around the distributor. And your engine shouldn't be hot.

We use the same method on the diesel lawnmowers at work...on the battery and everything.

But for some reason I'm afraid to do it on my car too

OMG what a pain! it's harder then what I thought lol

The stuff works well but I really need to brush to get the engin really clean...

also, the transmision is covered of grease like the manifold, it's hard to wash... After winter I will try removing all the parts I can to be able to really make it SHINE....

Oh ... after it was dry ( I used my father's shopvac at BLOWING ) I started the engin and it started like a charm, the only thing is 1 sparkplug wasn't sparking but I reinstalled the sparkplug cable in the coil and in the engin tighter and all worked fine.

I used some towel to put in the sparkplug hole ( I didn't remove them ) and a grocery bag to cover the alternator and an other to cover the fuse box and I taped the coil with duct tape...

And that's the experience I had !
