Picked up '90 LX yesterday
Wow I love this car. More and more I become impressed with Mazda, and their quality cars. For those of you who don't know, I just bought a really nice '90 LX with high miles (151k) on the clock from a friend of mine for $800.
What a steal! This thing is loaded. Going from my 323 with power NOTHING, now I'm spoiled with power sunroof, windows, locks, mirrors, the whole shebang. I'm even more impressed with how well this thing runs, even after 150,000 miles. The BP engine is silky smooth compared to the B6 in my 323. I love the DOHC 'whine' of the engine in first gear, it sounds really nice. I'm pleasently suprised with the torque for a 4cyl., I have to downshift less going up hills than in my 323, which is always a good thing. Finally I have a tach, although the gearing at least in 5th is way too short for this car... taching at about 4k doing 70-80 is a bit obscene. Luckily the car is nice and quiet.
Handling is more than adequate, mostly because the 195 series tires do most of the work. My 323 with stock 13s on there really don't do anything for the handling, when I have my 14s on, the difference is night and day. In any case, the handling is quite good for a stock car.
All I can say is wow. Sure, it's not the nicest car out there, but I'm more than happy with it for my new commuter car. I can pull to over 100 without much problem, even scratch the tires in second. No real purpose, yes, but still fun
If anyone wonders, I still have the 323, I'm just not going to drive it much anymore. It's going to become my project car. After Xmas I'm going to put eibach springs with the zx2 struts, and 15" konig helium rims. Then I'll be getting the j-spec front and rear bumper, paint it, and do some body work. Then after all that's done, It's time for the KL-ZE
I have a few pictures of the new pro on my yahoo photos site, I'll be taking more this afternoon.

I believe the dark blue is "Harbor Blue." Kind of wished I had gotten that color when I bought mine new, but the early cars (that I saw in dealerships in LA) only came in white, black, bright red, and light blue. The other colors filtered in over time.

Hi Dan,
If you're looking for serious power, I would suggest the BPT powerplant. A 1.8L Turbo engine is better than KL-ZE (NA).
Just check out my mods. I don't know my HP yet cuz I'll wait till I've completed my future mods. After that, I'll dyno it.

Is that interior blue, or gray (taupe)? It looks like the taupe interior, but my '90 brochure says that Harbor Blue exterior only comes with the blue interior.
