Just picked up an MP3 ECU...

i think you'd be fine on 89 octane honestly. I ran my mp3 ecyu on 87 octane with no problems.
here's an install tip....WAER GLOVES!! that metal that holds the ecu in place is sharp!! you'll lose all sorts of fingers and skin before you realize why you're bleeding.
p.s. 10mm socket and a 1" extension are your best friends.

Thanks, all. I picked it up from an import salvage yard about 30 miles from my house. We had to take it out ourselves. My daughter's boyfriend actually did all the work, I just watched, it was great. But yeah, I made sure he wore gloves.
This salvage yard actually has two MP3's, but one was a burn job--the whole front end into the passenger compartment was toast, literally. I doubt the ECU is undamaged.
They were asking $125, I got him down to $100. I think it'll be worth it.
I'll try it with 89 octane, since that's what I've been running with my new plugs and I'll try it with 91. I'll see if I can tell any difference.
The rear bumper skirt on both cars are pristine, I'll probably go up and grab one when it gets warmer. It was 28 degrees today here and the wind was blowing like a BITCH! No way I was staying any longer than I needed to!

You got the ECU for 100.00, no way. Is that the going price. Hell I need to find one. I thought they would be 5 or 6 hundred.

I just paid $50 for one for a friend.
I had one earlier on my car that I paid $0 for. A guy with a turbo mp3 needed an ECU overnight so I shipped him and he swapped em out and I had his back 3 days later. I then sold that ecu (with a swap) for $150. I don't miss it now but it was a little nicer when I was all motor.
Just fyi, in case anyone cares. At the AL meet my boy Johnnie had the fastest protege of the night at a 10.01s.....I got him this ecu so we're going to see just how much it'll help. I say he picks up .1-.2s in the 1/8th.

^ You need the MP3 *only* - the MPS (I assume you meant MSP) is not the same.
Now i Need oNe bAd. I gots' da' jones! Now that i have decided to stay n/a. I plan the Wagner/shorty header and the ECU. Maybe the J-spec cam when the timing belt is due...
