Noisy AC compressor

Noisy AC compressor
When I bought this car a couple months ago, the AC was dead. I had a shop install a rebuilt AC compressor, dryer, etc. We were still using AC pretty much everyday at the time. Within the first two days, I noticed a leak in my driveway under the compressor area that appeared to be a greenish oil. What it turned out to be was compressor oil made green by the dye they used during the install. The next day, the compressor started making this annoying clicking sound when I would sit at idle at a stoplight. If I gave the car a little gas, or drove away, the noise would stop, but it would come back at very low rpm like <1000.
This continued for a couple weeks until I finally took the car back to the shop that did the work. They basically told me the compressor was fine and there was nothing they could do about the noise unless they installed a larger condensor. They said the oil leaked because of a high-pressure situation through a reed (read?) valve, but there was enough oil/refrigerant in the system. Apparently the US switched to the new refrigerant in '94, but my Pro was built for the old one. They told me that the previous owner had updated the system, but not the condensor since they're pretty expensive. So anyway, are they feeding me a line? All I know about AC is what the major system components are, that's it. I have a one year warranty - should I press for a replacement?

I have a 94 as well and it does the same thing... it only does it when you come to a stop or turn the AC off.. i believe it was one of the pulley's on it something kept interfering with it... I delt with it clicking like that if you will until I got a new car... but if you cant live with the clicking like i did Id say press for the replacement b/c I took my car to the shop many a time and adjusted many things and it just didnt work it still clicked... so get the replacement
