Well i sent my car to get inspected, oil change and new tires today and the mechanic called me up and told me that i have $750 in other stuff that needs to be done. heres a list of things:

front exhaust pipe(i knew that needed to be done)
rear springs
and apparently i have a small gas leak and the pipes will need to be changed(thought my mgp sucked)
+ the new tires i was going to have put on

so i told him to just forget about it he isnt going to change the tires or do the oil till i decide what im going to do... what should i do? if i bought some ebay springs and did the front exhaust pipe myself how much do you think it would be to fix the gas leak and stuff? what should i do? should i just forget about my car and buy a new one? i dont know... any help, advice, info will be helpful.

or if anyone has any of the stuff i need for sale that would help.... i dunno

what i would do:
Ask him where it's leaking from, go to a junkyard, get the piece, get it custom welded on for like 20 bucks.
For the springs, go on ebay and get a pair for cheap, or go to the junkyard and get a pair for under 50 bucks.
as for tires, (lol) you can also go to the junkyard and get some good used ones for cheap.
dude, trust me. its a bit of running around but you'll **** yourself when you see how much you saved. mechanics are theives don't trust em. My axle needed replacement and they wanted 300 bucks at aamco (plus 50 bucks for diagnostics even though I was sure it was the axle) I went to the junkyard and bought an axle for 40 bucks, popped it in and its good as new.
oh yea, I don't know about the gas leak thing though....

hey thanks for the offer buy im going to buy some eibach springs off ebay unless i find someone else with them for sale, but thanks for the offer. i figure if one is broken then the others might not be far behind.

 

i found out when i went and picked up the car that it was the inlet hose, and it needs a new vent tube. the garage said the whole gas tank has to come down to fix it tho. my friends dad said that he would do it for cheap, i dunno tho.
im going to buy a used flex pipe from someone if all goes well. and the tires i think ill stick with the ones im going to get.
