It's a funny story actually.... Adding to my post from before, my friend who had the slim jim in his car tried to get it open first, but he yanked up on something, the slim jim flew up and hit his forehead, cutting it open

I picked up where he left off and got it open in a minute or so, the slim jims are nice because they're very thin, and pretty flexible. I'm sure a coathanger would work though, too.

happend to me several times but i always have a spare key. dont try to locksmith it, all protege generations have anti theft system, check it out, window glass is really deep in the door so that you cant get to the lock with the locksmith, all you can do is to mess up the lock but you wont opet it

TIP!!!

Slim Jims work to get unlock the doors. But if not. get ur VIN! then take it to ANY MAZDA dealership. They can cut u a key from ur VIN. Ive had it done for my old 90 LX. hehe. So jus try to do that. plus u can get a window for the protege for about $15-20 from a junkyard. dont worry bout that.

thanxs, fellas for the tip on that one, sure enough i got a key made at the dealership from the vin, didn't even charge me. maybe because i went with the baby.
