ok, i did some thinking, and i can't imagine what would be holding your egt hood from bolting directly in. i had some latent image in my head that our hoods had arms on them just like our trunk lids . egt brackets in this case would do you no good IMHO. my other idea was where to mount your hood pins, and the spot i eyeballed was in the top two corners of your cowl and would probably work (these mounting points are demarkated in the image below with big goofy red arrows ). the other thing that i was thinking was the cross bracing under the hood, if your cf hood has these, maybe they're getting in the way. bottom line is, and i was talking heavily about this today on my trip to see groharlem (wil), i would have to see this hood opened to make the better decision, but it's blatantly clear to me (as was mentioned) the EGT hood slopes higher up in the rear than the protege does... as in you would need Escort fenders, headights, grille, bumper, and corners to make it look 100%. my opinion on the matter, try and see what you can't do about lowering the back end of the hood... make sure nothing underneath the hood is poking up and preventing the back from coming flush with the fender. this is VERY possible, as when i ghetto mounted some air horns in my car, the front would close fine, but the rear lifted up about a half to a full inch. check your clearance issues there and maybe you can custom fab some way to mount it properly. i appologize as i'm severly at a loss not actually looking at this thing up close in person, but i KNOW it can be done.. only question now is how...? attatched is a photo of the cross bracing i was talking about and the two mounts for rear pins if you decided on 4 hood pins to latch your hood shut.

peace and good luck

Well, there goes that idea... what you need to do is break out the Bondo and... Okay I'm not gonna finish that.

You can get a reverse hood hinge kit and put two pins at the top of the hood.

Keystone sells a kit.

If you do that, you could remove the hinges completely, so it would'nt stick up anymore.

the big concern i don't think is the hinges being in the way, i think it's just the slope of the fender you can't accomodate for. just remove all your oem mounting hardware and try and see if that works, if so, see about reverse hinges i guess, afterall, it would be a bitch to have to remove the entire hood just to check your oil...
peace

yeah, the fender itself is only an inch deep, the hood is about an inch and a half, so regardless, ill have gap...but with reverse hinges, ill have some straight bad *** gap
