An EGT hood is going to fit like that since the Escort fenders don't directly meet the A pillars like a Protege.

but if i get new fenders, i have to paint, and im low on $$ after blowing 400 bux on a hood im gonna see if my local body shop can just shave it down a bit, or, if all else fails, the whole escort fender thing may be the only option

just a wild guess, but try and see if the arms/brackets you bolt the hood onto can be cut down and welded back together... ie, take some height off the brackets... or just swap them out of an escort? i have no clue, good luck bud.
peace

the escort hinges sound like a good idea. or you could try to reseas them, or you could go with four hood pins.

hood looks sweet, better if it wasnt sticking up. ? for whoever can answer this. will all the body lines on the escort fenders line up to the doors? and what year, and model was that hood for? im really going to look into that hood now.

The Escort body lines are different, and I don't think Escort hinges are going to solve anything, the hood will probably still be in the same place. Go look at an Escort fender (mainly at the base of the A-pillar) and compare it to a Protege fender. There is more of a slope to the top.

Seems like 4 hood pins would be a PITA! If you need to check your oil or other fluid levels youll have to pull out the pins, lift off the hood, then put it back on later. I would look into ways to modify the hinges. Maybee try using hinges off an Escort? Its possible they are different. I would be afraid to try modifying the hood itsself unless you had a shop do it. Try going to a junkyard and pulling a stock escort hood and make that fit THEN make the carbonfiber hood fit. I was wanting this hood but not if it can't be made to fit. It looks pretty good but would look better with the protege lines, or even hoodvents built in like this:

Id like to see some close up pics of the hood that show the carbonfiber design.

There is an Escort sitting in the driveway across the street from me. Its been there for ever they never move it, it belonged to the old man that lived there before, now someone else moved in. Ill have to see if they will let me take it off their hands and test fit the fenders and the hood.

dude, i did hood pins in the front of my car (just two, not four), it's a piece of cake if you do it right and take your time... check my little write up on hood pins( http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...ight=hood+pins )... bout as detailed as i could make it. as far as your hood pins for the rear of the car, i have no clue how to help you there, as there isn't much of ANY place to throw rear hood pins on, i mean, take a look at this pic, you'd either have to go through the lip of the fender or the black plastic cowel below the windshield, and that won't hold much of ****. there are a bunch of hood pin designs out there, but primarily, i don't see a feasible way of mounting rear hood pins. PLEASE research this and let us know!
here is a picture of what i'm talking about, there really is limited to no space to mount a rear set of pins.
peace and good luck bud
