Hi,

I live in texas. I have a 93 dx 5 spd, stock, and went up against this Civic one night. we were on the highway about 2:00 in the morning, the guy pulled on the side of me tanting a race. Now keep in mind the distance we traveled would normally be a 20 min. drive on the highway. I can push my car to above 90 mph in 3rd gear before redline, so I did the same in 4th and 5th, my
needle on the speedometer was trying to go past 140. I redlined in 5th gear and lost the race. But I was still happy for what my car did. now I want to modify my ride a for a rematch with that Honda. I have to agree with you about the shaking, probrably something with the tire size or suspension

The 90-94 LX model Proteges have a BP motor with 125hp 114tq its a 1.8 liter dohc 16 valve. the Dx models have the same thing they are just a sohc(missing a cam) and have alittle less hp and only rev to 6000 rpm not 7000..Jon 93 lx

137mph in my DX. While I was doing this, I was destroying an LX. Nobody likes the LX, not even God.

I got pretty close to 115... a SOHC automatic of all things. I was probably somewhere between 105-110, and I had about 700-1000rpm to go... I couldn't get everything exactly, I had to pay attention...lol

HP doesn't matter for top speed untill wind resistance becomes a factor. If you're on a 0 degree infininte (sp?) plain, with no wind resistance (I know that's not possible), the only thing that matters is your gearing. HP only matters for counteracting forces.

I had a friend who's driving the '90 Escort and BPT powerplant maxing at 149mi/h w/ escort 1.8L tranny. My car's tranny is the B6 Turbo gear ratio maxing out at a theoretical speed of 152.5mi/h. Have actually done 130mi/h. BPT goes from 0~100mi/h seems like a breeze.
Oh my tires are 16" Kumho W rate -- I think.
