cams

I have a problem. We were replacing the water pump and we got the enigne out of time. we can get the crack where it has to be but we can not get the cams timed. we went with the book and it says to line up these marks and all of this junk. but the cam gears don't have the marks. so what i wanted to know what do the cams look like when they are lined up, is there another way to line them up. Any pic idea would be great to hear.

so you have the two gears in front of you. the little notch in the gears are where the letters were at.............. Right? then all i have to do is put the gears back on and line the little notchs up so they face each other, then line up the crank then i should be good. hopefully this is right because it is hard not to have your car not idle right and it shacks the whole car when it does.
