Probably the alternator belt was slipping. In the future I don't recommend belt dressing, as when you change the belt you'll have to clean that out.

If it keeps up, its your alternator. Replacing it is a happy fun time too!! Took me about 3 hours to get in that bitch out and a new on back in.

It seems that the alternators in our cars are ****, and wear out after 100k. I dunno why, but i know just about everyone who has had a pro has had to replace their alternator.
wow after 100k ? That sucks man! My car is on 200k.. hope it doesn't need another lol. My other car had hit 103 and was pretty good about it, needed belts but i took care of that a couple weeks before it was destroyed.. lol.

Did you take it out the top? Couple of things to move out of the way and it just pulls out of the top.

My alternator started making grinding noises at about 150k miles. I replaced it at around 160k because I was going on a long (2500 mile) trip, and didn't want to have it go in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from the nearest Mazda dealer.
