without beating on the car or racing, you should get atleast 80k-100k from the OEM axles.

but remember this is the 1st gen section, our cars can be as old as 12 years running.....like mine

Drag racing will hurt the axles the most, among other things. But all forms of racing is hard on parts, just the nature of the beast.

And no, the Protege axles are not problematic.

Symptoms are creaking/knocking noises when steering wheel is fully cranked (could also be at any point in between when really bad)

Ya, but it's hard to find brand new parts for these as well so you're basically stuck w/ remanufactured parts which last 1/10th of the lifetime the stock axles do.

Autozone has both new and reman axles and you can buy 2-3 remans for one set of OEM, and the remans come with a Lifetime Warranty....i don't see a problem. I'd like to see an OEM part with a lifetime warranty...HAHAHA. For me, racing is hard on axles, so i'll take the reman and just change em a little sooner. Use that money saved for a suspension part or an entry fee

It's not like they're just taking your old ones and just cleaning them up, new boots and back into the store

Also, 60-80k on remans (RACING) is hardly a tenth of OEM's at 90-110k

Considering that they cost 1/4-1/2 of what new ones do, if they last 1/2 as long, I'm happy. And so far, they have. If you really want brand new ones, they are available. Try here
