I want to buy this clean 92 DX, but it needs CV axles, help me out.
Im going to check out this 92 DX
107k DOHC
no rust, clean inside and out.
needs 2 tires
the guy says it clicks, especially around corners.
how much are new CV axles, or can I rebuild them with new boots or something?
he wants $1900 for it. I was thinking $1700
What do you think?

I can work on the car at my school, any needed help is available.
do you think I could do it in about 4 hours with all parts and necessary tools at hand.
Do you need to align the car after?

4 hours is about right for the do it yourselfer. I got my axles for 120 a piece and they gave me almost half that back as a core charge at Advanced. 1700 sounds better to me too with 107,000 miles.

go to www.car-part.com they will have a list of junkyards you could get the axles from. They would be less if not around 200 bucks

I guess the price isn't too bad, paying cash right? I paid 2500 for my SE, a little much but needed a car and thats with all of the financing and everything. Only have six more months to pay on it YooHoo!! But around here pros usually go for 1500 in good condition. I found an LX for 1500 in immaculate condition wish i had the money then.

here's a good idea, it works with used car dealerships, but tell him you'll pay him 1900 only if HE pays to fix the problem before the sale is made. i did this to a dealership that wanted to sell me a car with an oil leak.. if you're buying a car outright, it should be road worthy and worth the money you're paying for it. so in other words, don't worry about getting something fixed... i mean, what if it's not the axle, you spend the 1700 for the car, 1900 when you add the work and labor to get a new axle put in and any additional costs just to repair the damn thing. tell him to fix it and then you'll buy it.
