Shifting my shifter

Hey my doggone shifter fell through the floor, whats the best replacement to get? I don't like the throw on the stock shifter, it's too far forward anyhow. I would like one that leans to the rear a but more and has at least a 20% shorter throw. Any ideas? Its funny, if it weren't for my exhaust the stock shifter would be on the ground right now...lol

you need to _completely_ replace your shifter assembly.

and get a kartboy SS.

SO I am guessing by your response that the plate doesn't come with the new shifter?

All I could find was a shifter for the P5, does that fit in the first gen?

When I went to cartboy the only shifter I have found for a Mazda is this, and it does not list my gen one car....

This replacement shift lever provides a reduce height and throw for the Mazda Protege5 and MP3 including the 2003 MY. The height is reduced about 2" on the Protege5, and 1" on the MP3. Accordingly, the throw is reduced 35% for the Protege5 and 20% for the MP3. Installation can be performed in under an hour. This product is CNC machined from 4130 Cr-Mo Steel and TIG welded. Please note that the stock MP3 Shift **** will not fit. Arrangements can be made for custom threading, or an aftermarket **** can be installed.
