Protege Harness

I have a 92 Protege DX. I put the head from a 92 LX. The computer from the LX will not fit my DX. I will need to change the Harness. Does anyone have any links or suggestions to make this happen? The car starts with the old computer, but the check engine light comes on and it fails inspection.

Help Me Please.

So you put the Pro LX head on the SOHC motor? Would have been alot better if you swapped the whoe 1.8 DOHC motor with the LX harness.

I'm thinking maybe you don't have the right computer, because the LX ECU can be hooked right up to the DX harness. There are several people who have done it.

Look at this:
SOHC Wire Harness and DOHC Motor????

I saw that post, but I really didn't understand that the VICS was. Can't I just get the harness and swap it out?

I can't beleive a newbie is answering this.

If you only swapped the DOHC head onto your SOHC engine than the problem is your distributor. The DOHC distributor has 4 wires whereas the SOHC distributor has 3 wires. That's your problem.

The DOHC distributor forces you to use a DOHC ECU.
