PRotege wiring harness coming!
I just got off the phone with the guys at Scosche, and they say they should have a wiring harness for the P5 (also the MP3, and Tribute, etc. - I think they are all the same) by mid-January, hopefully.
I was referred to them by a rep at Kenwood USA.
Best is the price, though: $12.95!
It will be model number MA-03.
So those of us (me included, soon) who have rigged up the harness ourselves, the wait is almost over. You'll be able to get it right soon.

I wouldn't order one until they can at least provide a picture at that site. At least you could see if it LOOKS right first.
Unless, of course, they've got a good return policy that won't cost you anything.
Let us know if you order it.

Ok, I got a reply from a guy that ordered this harness (another forum). He said that he used it to install a new head unit and it works perfectly in his P5! But if i can get it from Best buy or Circuit city (mentioned in another thread), then i'd rather get it direclty from best buy or circuit city to save shipping charges , not to mention it's much quicker.

guess I am off to Best Buy and Ckt City tomorrow morning to see what they have to offer for the car. If they have a harness that does indeed fit the 01-02 Proteges then I will have yet another stereo task to work on this weekend
if not, then it is time to place that order!

There is definetely a wiring harness available. I have it installed in my car with a kenwood MP8017 deck. I got it from Sound Shop locally. Call (757) 827-9405...ask for Mike Weatherhill and he can ship one to you I'm sure or he can tell 'ya where to get one.

did you call my contact or any local shops to see if they have it? Mike can at least give you the company name.

So how much did you pay for the harness?
Thanks for the info!

I wanna say it was like $12-15. Not too much. I did have to wait for them to get the pocket that goes under the deck though. That was like $15 as well. It holds 3 cd cases though so it is functional.

I ordered mine today. Yep, $12.95 + $5 shipping. I got a Metra pocket from my local Best Buy, so once the harness is here, off goes the crappy stock radio!
Greddy917 - are you gonna install it yourself? Let us know how hard it is to remove the stock radio and what tools are required.

I had a BITCH of a time removing the stock radio. If you can, try to ind a dealer or shop that has the removal tool - maybe for $5 you can get someone to remove it for you, or let you borrow the tool for 5 minutes.
I used a couple of pieces of coathanger, and it took about 45 minutes to get it out. I wound up having to crawl up under the dash to see what the hell I was trying to do, then I was able to get at it. A royal pain in the *** for me, though I know others have not had as hard a time.
