oil leaks

I have a 91 Protege with 145k miles on it and it is burning about 2qts of oil per change. I had my mechanic check it and the main seals are leaking, but not anywhere near a 2qt/3000 mile interval. Does anybody know where else 2 qts could be coming out of? I am not blowing any smoke, my emissions are fine (AirCheck Texas qualified with a new cat) and it idles a little rough when I have the AC on. Is it anything you guys have seen before?

boy, i need to look into this mess a whole lot more, i've got an oil leak, having to put about 0.8 quarts of oil in mid stride between oil changes... don't know if it's burning or leaking.. so honestly, can anybody point out the different gaskets there are on the engine that may be prone or can leak oil? my general idea had been if it was leaking from an upper part of the engine, it would trickle down and THEN it'd smoke.. ah, i really have no idea what i'm talking about. wil, jesse, daryl...any of you guys, where are the areas the bp is prone to leakage and/or burning oil??? thanks a bunch guys.
peace

on my block i have issues with the valve cover gasket. That is leaking on me, Also i have an oil leak around my distributor cap area. that is where my most common leaks are.
Same here, also I would say front and rear main seals, maybee even cam seals.

if you figure it out i bet its a lot cheaper just to buy new oil instead of fixing it
