Is my clutch slipping?

This is the deal. When I first start my car up in the morning, and let out the clutch and apply gas, my car sorta like shakes when it starts to move. It's not like I'm bringing it close to stalling (I know how to drive stick). This 'shaking' goes away after the engine is warmed up a little bit more.

Also, I think I need to replace my driver's side CV joint. I don't think this is the reason though because it wouldn't do it only when it's cold.

Anyone have any ideas?

maybe you have a brake that is hanging up. also look under your car. is there any oil under the bell housing? you could have oil on your clutch. thats what was making mine slip.

Hi
there could be bad bearings in the clutch whick cause that shaking. To test if clutch is slipping is easy: drive slowly (30-40mph) with the highest gear and hit the pedal to the floor. If engine speed raises much quicker than car's speed, the clutch is slipping

i have a slipping problem too when i'm givin'er and i shift quick at 6000 instead of spinning second is whines down to like 4500-5000 i just got it replaced in july so i know what a worn clutch feels like
haven't driven it most of the winter and it did it the first day i picked it up w/ the new clutch
ppl tell me maybe the flywheel wasn't spun or something when it was replaced...

Ok, well then it's definately not a clutch-slippage, then... My clutch grabs well for being so old (113k). I'm thinking then maybe it's something else in my drivetrain... It's not too bad though, it only does it when it's cold in the morning, and then 2 minutes later it's fine. Oh well

1) is it possible to buy a high performance clutch that i can swap form my SOHC trannie to the DOHC or kl-ze trannie? (when i do the full swap)

'no ... tranny/clutch is totally different'

2) should i just buy a SOHC clutch til i'm ready to do the whole swap? (i'm strapped for $$$ right now...so no swap til like november...if i'm lucky)

'might be able to wait - until you swap OR get another :'

3) i even considered flipping the car....the clutch problem isnt really noticeable til the car warms up...i could sell it and buy a protege with better body and **** engine..then do the swap when that engine goes.
