BP unboosted flows: 185cfm

11psi = 1.75:1 pressure ratio

BP on 11psi flows: 323cfm

323cfm will be around 230bhp on a REALLY GOOD day, because as a rule of thumb, a competition motor will use about 1.3 to 1.4 cfm of air per HP on gasoline.

230bhp = 195whp on a really great day with really low drivetrain losses [15%]

I am not saying that I don't believe you......

why don't you post some pics of the intercooler setup and such.........I don't think that would be a problem....would it ??

133 at wheels

OK, before everyone gives me sh*t for this number, here's how I got 133hp at the wheels. I went to one of those HP calculators on the internet. I put in 2660 lbs, and my 1/4 mile time of 15.8. How did I get 2660? It's not scientific, but a guestimate. Car and driver has the LX listed at 2550 lbs with a full tank. I had about 1/4 a tank, and no spare or jack. I subtracted those weights, and added my body weight. Like I said, it's a guestimate, it could be higher or lower, but it's close. With 133 at the wheels, and a 15% loss, I'm at about 160HP at the crank. I think that pulling 15.8 puts those HP #s as pretty accurate. OK, now everyone feel free to completely disagree with me. Don't blame me, blame the internet. BTW, compare Big Mike's dyno chart, then add cams and you have my car. I think 133 is good.

Using those same formulas, it says I should have ~150bhp. I'd be very surprised if I had more than 135bhp at the time I ran.

So add a 160# driver and you're right @ 2660#...

114.7whp

with full intake and exhaust i have 114.7 at the wheels. I will be hitting the dyno again at the end of this month, and with a few alterations, i hope to hit closer to 118-120whp.

here's my dyno chart

Pat has Webcams cams and the basic bolt ons.

i plan to try the Miata intake cam only (94-97) If i can get one cheap, i'll have a dyno number at the end of the month.

Darryl,
Thanks for posting the dyno sheet, it's the first one I've seen.

I was expecting to see a boost at 3500, 'cause in my car it feels like that's where the 'turbo kicks in' or it comes on the cams. Is yours the same, or is it something with mine? When I still had the original crap tires, I'd get wheelspin at 3500 in the wet the surge in power was so strong. As far as I know, the engine is totally stock. Or maybe something's wrong below 3500 and it's not making enough power. It truly feels like it's got a set of cams because it's kinda flat below 35 and takes off like a rocket above.

Anyone else experience this?

tom

Tom,
As Jesse mentioned, check your intake for any cracks or leaks and that the airbox is still fully sealed etc... I had the same surge when i first installed the RX7 VAF UNTUNED, so i can relate to your surging, but as soon as i tuned it, it was fine.

Here are Mike's and Alex's EGT dyno charts.

Both had basically the same set up, filter, exhaust, adv ign but Alex had a header.

Couldn't this be the VICS system?? the intake manifold switches over to longer(?) runners to make for better/more airflow...so you get a nice 'turbo effect'...

And hopefully, i'll have some dyno sheets up before too long...
