You could use my car as a test dummy but, I am probably to far away for that (Greensboro, NC). Also, I would be interested in purchasing a good quality header for SOHC motor. Count me in!

sohc cam

PseudoRealityX: well its obvious, you're gay.. and when it comes to motors... your mentaly retarded. the single overhead cam has no potential huh?, since it has the same block, you can use the high compression pistons from Mazdaspeed made for the DOHC, and with a good P&P, and a cam it will flow just as much air as the DOHC. and the RX-7 VAF fits the SOHC as well as i recall, tell me if i missed anything. of course people like you only see a motor for how many aftermarket components are out there for it, ever hear of somthing called "Imagination"??? or "build your own turbo kit" obviously not. But wait acording to you since it only has one cam its trash!!! if only we could all have our tampons in a twist like you!!.. its like talking to a civic owner, do everyone a favor and get off of this list... your worthless

you know it baffles the **** out of me why you would tell pseudo that he has no imagination. he's a good friend of mine and i basically grew up with him through high school. he put up with so much **** from other people because he drove a protege it wasn't even funny. when altezzas were first coming out he was there, calling all the other honda people idiots with me (i drive a honda crx). he was the first person i knew who found out there was potential in the bp motor, hell he was the first person who i ever knew that helped me understand why half of my ******* motor worked. i wouldn't be at all suprised if he was half the reason you know half of what you know. you claim that you hate hondas and that they're all rice. well you bastards seem to have all the imagination left don't you? i've seen 20 - 30 different protege's driving around orlando and guess what? if they don't have a body kit, they have a bumble bee exhaust, or a goddamn multi color paint job.
i'm not telling you you're a ******* moron, no... that would be too easy... rather, i'm trying to get you to realize in your own mind that yes... you are in fact retarded.

Lets all stay on point!!!!! This is the SOHC header thread. Not an episode of Crossfire where "On the left, we have Psuedo haters" and on the right "Psuedo defenders."

Perhaps we should have a new section called a "War Room" for posts like these. Hell, It may be amusing. If you think that's retarded, well so is arguing in a thread where all I and other SOHC owners want info on is some damn headers.

We don't always need to agree with each other. All this bickering has been done already and is counter productive. I think we can all agree to disagree without resorting to name calling. Pissing contests never won anyone a medal or recognition.

Now, if anyone has any useful info on headers..lets hear it. Otherwise lets leave the personal **** out of this thread. If we can get a "War Room" section for that crap let me know. I'd be more than happy to release the dogs of war.

My last post is directed to all, not just you Psuedo. In your post it's not so much what you said because you did manage to keep your cool...kudos for that...but it's the "challenge" about what it is you know vs what others know that seem to illicit some of these negative posts. There's a hint of hostility that everyone seems to detect it and feed off it. I see it in other posts and it seems that if you and some other Pro owners went to war...you would be on someones FRAG list. Not mine of course, cause I hate all people equally.

You have a right to defend yourself...but this thread doesn't seem the appropriate place for it. Unless you guys can turn words into SOHC headers. WAR ROOM WAR ROOM!

Pseudorealityx: okay you had numbered questions, if i missed some, well...im not perfect, here goes

you said that the RX-7 VAF would not work well for the 1.8SOHC... interesting.. with the motor stock i ran a 16.9.. after the RX-7 VAF was installed i went to the track and with a 3500 RPM launch i hit a 16.54

As far as the specs on the head, to be honest i dont know either, but it does just fine with the mild cam that i had made, i helped my uncle build a drag motor, he is retired from Crane. and as a favor for me helping him. he got ahold of the techs at mazda for the specs on the stock cam, and the specs on the head, and had the cam built(not for free though, but cheaper than it would have costed) as for the specs they are sitting back home on paper and i don't have them in front of me right now.

after the VAF i had a custom header made by a local shop.. with that i ran a 16.4 (before the cam)

after that i moved the battery to the trunk and got a civic intake to fit ,as you all know a cone filter and an intake dont do much for power (maybe 3-5HP but nothing drastic) there was a slight increase in throttle response

THAN i got the cam, after my uncle helped me install the cam i had to add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator because it leaned out a higher RPMS, after the cam i ran a 16.05..

and for the DOHC being better at top end.. i have a friend with a '93 DOHC, i beat him through the quarter and he cant catch me till about 105 MPH, so yeah after over a hundred he can catch me

P.S. by the the the Jan. '91 issue of autoweek has the '91 protege DOHC 5-speed tested at 9.1seconds 0-60MPH, and the 1/4 at 17.04...... why dont you check it out http://www.cars.com

Impressive. Although there is a rivalry b/w BP owners, I myself own the smaller version of the sohc. The potential is there and while little power adders can help, some head work and such will result in gains the fact remains a turbo can be a great equalizer.
