You have a 1.8L SOHC Engine, with a very strong bottom end ready for turbo. The engine puts out I believe 107hp stock, and responds well to airflow modifications such as Cams and porting. You are also available to swap in DOHC engines and a select few V6 motors.

Hope that helps a little.

"newbie question"

what does porting actually do? Do machine shops do it?
Where are these cams you talk about, i thought only the dohc engine had aftermarket cams.

Porting opens up the size of the exhaust or intake ports to increase airflow in/out of the engine. Machine shops can do it, or if you know what you're doing you can do it at home. The SOHC cams can be ground to any specs you'd like.
