Question engine swap info

i have a 99 protege with a 1.6 in it and i would like to do an engine swap but i do not know what to swap to. i would like do something with the best performance but isn't going to be an bit#h to do. i probably never should have bought the lx model bu i did and i have sunk way to much money into it to get a different car.i have put a 75 shot of nitrous on it bu it stil isn't quick enough for my taste. i need some help, can anyone help me.

From what I know of there is no higher output 1.6L drop in for a third gen, so in short...there is no engine swap that will not be a bitch...

Your options are still there though...

FS-ZE 170hp...
FS-DE 130hp...
FP-DE 122hp...

They will all "fit" in your engine bay, but the cost will be enough to make you reconsider...

Thank you for answering my question. what all would i have to change to drop one of these engines into my car. Wich one do you think would be the easiest with the most benifits. i really do appericate your help, my car has been all show in the past and now it is time for some beef. A 75 shot of nitrous isn't enough around my town.

They are all basically the same block more or less...The first two "FS" engines are 2.0L (They are identicaly other than cams, compression, intake manifold and ECU differences)and the "FP" is a 1.8L...The FP is a de-stroked version of the FS, but there are some clutch differences, and it also mounts slightly differently in the engine bay from the FS engines...Also all these engines have different ECUs and gearboxes than you, not to mention a lot of other things...

I doubt this could be easily done for under $5000, which means you could easily build a fully compressed 1.6L and have enough left over for Red Lobster...But if you insist on doing it PM me or do a search on engine swaps and I will try to find everything you will need...

actually I just found this, it is a quick answer but it is directed at your exact car.

www.protegetech.com

scroll to the bottom of the home page (after you click on the intro deal) and there is a "question of the month" at the bottom...it is your question...I know that site has not been updated in almost a year, but the info is still good...
