Wheel or Rim debate

I'm just curious, everybody answer, does ARD sell wheels or does he sell Rims? And ARD please give me a response with definitions of a wheel and a rim. I know there is a difference and it drives me crazy when people refer to "rims". I did notice that ARD uses the "wheel" terminology.

In lamen's terms, rims and wheels are the same thing. Depends which part of the city you're from, or which part of the country you're from.

You like debates, huh? hehe. It's all good. From my experience the rim terminology would be better used in a multpiece wheel application, as in a three piece, would refer to the inner and outer rim lips.

But it sounds a little pretentious to be politically correct all the time, hence the evolution of slang.

I will use "rims" too, but try not to.

I sell both. We do Fikse, Intro Forged, HRE, Kinesis, all of which have rim halves or outer rim lips, etc.

Then we sell one piece wheels also, like most knock offs and even some forged ones like Volk Racing, ADVAN, etc. have in their lineups.

You could PM me this if you're directing this towards me personally. As you can generalize this to all wheel distributors as well, not just my company. but I hope i somewhat educated you. hehe.

I'm sure you already knew this, just needed to add a post to your count. Later.

I just wanted the definitions out there. I agree with the multipiece application. "Rims" sounds more "urban" to me. I wanted this to be seen by everyone and would like more peoples opinions. I just thought that your opinion would be the most technical. I should have named it something other than debate now that you bring it up. From here on the thread is called "The great "rim" and "wheel" conversation"!!!!!! Thanks again ARD...

Azrakain, I too use the two terms interchangably to an extent. HOWEVER, you are technically correct...as ARD pointed out. I have never been confused by this at all....BUT what really gets my goat is when people use WHEEL AND TIRE interchangably.....THAT truely shows that they don't know what the terms mean....or what they are generally talking about. I have looked a few in the eye and ask them straight out....OKAY, What is it you want to talk about....WHEELS OR TIRES, and they would look back at me like I was crazy or something...and then they would proceed to argue that they are the same thing....at that point I would give up and walk off.

that is not totally true......if you don't know...it can hurt you.....IF you are treading somewhere you shouldn't....or pushing your car farther than you should....because you don't know any better....it could end up with something blown up...IF you are lucky...and if not...maybe find yourself or someone else upside down in a water filled ditch.

just my 2 cents.

yah, yah, yah, cliche's can't be applied to everything. I agree with you too.

That's why we're here educating those who want to be educated. But those who don't care won't know any different. That's all.

But you're totally right in the big picture of things. Like wheel offsets. IMHO.

ARD.....without a doubt.....but hopefully those that come here and ask the questions....are willing to not only listen...but learn as well. Like you said....its why we are here in the first place.
