Good all weather tires.......

I was wondering if anybody could reccomend some good all season tires because I am going to have to replace mine in about a month. I currently have the Ecsta Supra 712's and these just don't cut it in the rain we get here. I need something that will work great on both dry and in extremely wet conditions.

Thanks.......

dont know if they have the size you need - but Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's were excellent all weather tires. great ride - low road noise - and excellent in the wet weather (living in Florida - its pretty important).. unfortunately - i dont think they make them anymore - but i think they have replaced them with the new version in the 'pilot' line. (i think pilot sport a/s)

you will pay more for them, but i have found on other cars i own Michelin's are woth the extra money.

If they are available in your size, the Bridgestone RE950 is a great all-weather tire. Not autocross worthy (althought they won't do that bad). A friend with a Protege in Seattle (who gets more rain than even Florida) just loves them, especially in the rain. And they also are passable in a snow tire. Not only that, they are very quiet.

Now, what size do you need? IF the RE-950s won't work, I might have some other suggestions.

If you have the 16" wheels the stock dunlops that come on a P5(maybe the ES TOO) the SP 5000 . They are a W rated all season and they work pretty stinkin good. But they are kinda pricy at 120 a tire. Where do you live b/c I run the same kunmo's and have no problem with rain. but again I"m in texas and don't really get alot of rain. Also Toyo Proxie Fz-4 is a good summer tire with excellent wet traction. Those are my 3 cents if its worth even that much.

2002 P5

If you have the money, you should consider getting some Nokian NRWs. http://www.nokiantires.com They're about $125 each, but they're really nice. They are an all weather/all season version of the Nokian Hakkapaliitta, which is a winter tire that's getting some buzz on the rally circuits lately.

Anyway, a lot of people from the miata.net forums are recommending them, and I'm planning on putting them on my wife's miata and my pro5.

*btw - I've got about 19,000 on my stock P5 tires, and they are absolutely Horrid in the rain. Just yesterday, I had two incidents that almost cost me dearly. Going all of 30 mph, I hit a puddle and started to ski across the double yellows (in busy traffic). Then later, I was going about 55 up a slight incline, and my tires just started spinning underneath me.*

I put on a set of the Nokian NRW's. Great tires. I find them much better than the stock Potenza's that my Pro came with.

They are rated for severe winter weather, so if you don't get snow/ice, I might look for another tire.

20k miles on 30k tires, if you drive hard, its about time to replace them anyways
