Ok, I've searched the site for the word offset already. And I know everyone hates it when newbies ask dumb questions everyone's already heard before. But I really need to know the offset for 2002 Protege 5 rims. I know the offset is pretty high...my MX-6 has a 42mm offset, but the P5 rims I have on there now sit way far inboard on the car and sometimes rub on the rear struts when I corner hard.
I need to know the offset so I can buy the correct spacers.

Um, I read all of that thread when I originally searched for the word "offset". It seems to me that he mentions the offsets of a lot of aftermarket wheels which will fit a P5, but he doesn't state specifically what the offset for the stock P5 rims is.
If someone knows what it is please just tell me. I've read through that thread several times and I didn't see it. Maybe I'm blind.

But really, I'm an extremely active member of mx6.com. Believeme, I understand how annoying newbies are. Asking retarded questions. I just need this one thing answered and I'll leave.

Help a fellow Mazda owner out.

Sorry I haven't looked down here. I figured somebody looked behind the spokes or inner pad of the wheel.

The offset should be a two digit number written on the inside of the wheel. I will get mine out of storage and check them out tommorrow.

You will have your answer, I didn't realize you were still waiting.

I can tell you that the MP3 RH wheel is a 17,7 w/ +55mm offset. Don't worry, you're not blind. I know this.

Hey thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. I love these rims on my car, I just need to get the offset sorted out and it will be a lot more enjoyable to drive. Right now I can't take advantage of the grip of these Dunlops with hearing the wheel weights in the back clipping my struts...annoying.

Oh yeah, did you know the motor in the P5 is loosely based upon the F2T in my MX6? We also have similar rear suspension...the trapezoidal link setup (also on your PGT of course...)

Well they are 16, 6 +50mm offset 5, 114.3 or 4.5.

If you need spacers let me know, I can get you hooked up. I would not reccommend it, could do a 5mm spacer and that should help. Otherwise you'll want to lengthen your studs.

Beware of the width of your stock wheel. If your stock wheel is 6" wide, the same as the protege, and there is a difference of 8mm then you know at a minimum what size you should get. You round up to ten mm.

I was expecting to have to get longer studs. I guess I'll be needing 10mm spacers then...Hmmm.

If you know where I can get them for a good price I'd like to hear about it. I know H&R makes them but they seem damn expensive for what they are.

HR's are expensive cause they are the best and require the least amount of work and headache to install.

With the HR's they are hubcentric, as well as integrated studs. You can get the spacer and then take apart the hub to install longer studs, but I don't see how this would save you any money. Cause time is money. Plus when you go to other wheels, you'll have extra long studs, get my drift.

With the HR's you bolt the spacer to the hub and the spacer to the wheel. It's the only way to go. Sorry. If they don't make it, then there are other options and the spacers can be had for cheap.

I would run the 15mm HR spacers, as this would give you a better stance. What size tire are you running? The P5 tire.

I want to make sure you are not racking up mileage.

My car is aligned properly, and I don't see how having improper offset will cause tire wear problems.
I want to use the 10mm spacer because I don't want to mess up the scrub radius (I wanna stay as close to stock as possible.) Also pushing the wheels to far out may keep me from running wider tires in the future (like wider than the skinny 195/50/16 Dunlop 5000 stock ones...)

With the size of spacer I want, I'm not picturing how the spacer can bolt to the hub, and wheel bolt to the spacer...can you explain how this works?

I don't have an illustration, but it works.

Basically there are ten holes in the spacer, five of which accept the studs coming out of the hub and then an short open ended lug nut will be screwed onto each of the "hub's" lugs. Then the other five holes contain other studs which the wheel will bolt to. I hope this makes sense.

I am not sure what you are talking about alignment and offset. I never mentioned that you would wear improperly due to offset, that's all camber related.

I believe the 15mm's would work well and still allow you the use of a 205 width and taller 45 series profile.

What is the width of your stock wheel? If you want to do the 10's then go for it, but if H&R produces them, you will save yourself a lot of trouble. All on you. I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

I need all the variables to give you PROPER CONSULTATION.

I knew it was like this, but I don't see how the wheel bolts to the spacer's studs, if the hub's studs are still there and in the way.

But oh well, I'll find out...

I was talking about alignment because in my mind camber settings are part of a good alignment. I have about 1.5 degrees negative camber on the front, and zero on the back. Not enough to cause a tire wear issue, I don't think.

The width of the stock wheel is the same as the width of the P5 wheel. There are people with the stock MX6 rims who run 215 section widths, so I thought I'd be able to do that in the future.

You're right, H&R doesn't make a 10mm spacer...that sucks.
